The Basics
Slack is an online messaging platform where you can join many workspaces, like ours. If you ever need help getting set up with slack, be sure to read this helpful article. We recommend downloading Slack for free on your phone and laptop.

Guidelines
Listed below are some general guidelines implemented to keep our Slack a welcoming and chaos-free environment for all!
Don't Do's
➢ Use @channel or @here. Every member of Slack receives a notification for each message posted; using this feature is prohibited with the exception of Bits&Bytes directors.
➢ Delete channels or create channels. If you have a channel suggestion, direct message Diana [COO and Community Engagement Lead] and we will create this channel for you.
➢ Spam channels with advertisements. Although we love all of the projects you are all working on, our slack is meant for thoughtful discussion and should not be consistently used to post advertisements. You are 100% allowed to post
about your initiatives, upcoming virtual events, surveys, etc; we just ask that you do not only post this and spam our channels.
➢ Harass anyone in ANY way based on race, nationality, gender identity, etc. This is a SAFE space for ALL. Be respectful and kind even if you disagree. Having discussions is important for us to grow, but these should never involve
you criticizing anyone or any other inappropriate behaviour.
